Dancing with Myself

A collection of nine 12” x 12” oil over mixed media paintings on flat wood panels, framed in basswood tray frames.

Dancing with Myself was born during a pivotal season—right after I walked away from a 25-year engineering career to give art the space it had been quietly asking for.

The collection reflects that in-between moment: the exhilaration of freedom paired with the unease of having no roadmap. It was equal parts celebration and deep breath, filled with questions I couldn’t answer yet.

The butterflies—first-timers in my work—were a challenge. Their delicacy pushed me to find a way to honor detail without losing the energy I love. They ended up symbolizing exactly what I was feeling: transformation.

These paintings live in that space where joy and uncertainty hold hands. They don’t try to tell a story—they hold a moment. One of those fleeting ones that passes quickly, but lingers in your mind long after.
